Manual therapy is a “hands-on” treatment technique performed by physical therapists to treat joint pain, muscle aches, and limited range of motion. This type of treatment is based on examination of a patient’s movement patterns during their physical therapy appointments. Manual therapy is altered to accommodate the patient’s response to treatment as they progress through their plan of care. It encompasses a variety of techniques including joint manipulation and mobilization and soft tissue mobilization.
